Sesame Chocolate Chip Cookies

This cookie combines Chef Esther's two favorites: sesame and chocolate...a flawless match 🍪 It's nutty and toasty but the sweet chocolate chips make it the perfect balance. Watch the video here! 

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 4 oz unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 tbsp Sessy sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, at rooom temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped chocolate or chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup toasted sesame seeds
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

Step One

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda.

Step Two

In a stand mixer, beat the butter and sesame oil on medium speed until creamy, about 1 minute. Add both sugars and beat on medium speed until light in color. Mix in the egg and vanilla on medium-low sped.

Step Three

Add flour mixture to mixture and mix on low speed untl dough comes together. Add chocolate chips and mix until combined.

Step Four

Cover dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Step Five

Preheat oven to 350° and line two half-sheet pans with parchment paper.

Step Six

In a blender, coarsely crush the sesame seeds and transfer into a small bowl.

Step Seven

Form dough into 12 portions about 2 oz each. Dip balls halfway in sesame seeds to evenly coat and place on baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

Step Eight

Bake for 12 to 14 minutes until edges begin to brown. Let cookies cool completely on pans.
